Yingge – famous ceramics
On Sunday I asked my homefamily to go to Yingge. It’s not far from Neili and it’s a district of New Taipei city located on Dahan river. Yingge is famous for its pottery for more then 200 years. You can get there by train from Taipei and it takes maybe one hour. We drove car, because it lies on the southwest side of New Taipei city and that’s pretty close to Neili.
We went through the Old street, where are so many shops one next to other. You can buy some cheep ceramics here or also find expensive artistic pieces. If you have more time you should visit also the Ceramics Museum, where you can admire real art. You can also try to make your own cup in one of many DIY shops. Sometimes there is needed reservation for that, maybe 2 weeks before. After you make a cup they deliver it to you burned and finished in two weeks.

In the evening I went to the train station in NEili, to meet up with some AIESECers, because they asked me to go for the last dinner together.. What a surprise when two boys from AISEC came riding their scooters and said we have to go further to Taoyuan by scooter! I was a bit afraid and a lot excited, because that was one of my wishes, to ride a scooter here! And it was really great. The scooter drives are a bit crazy here, they zigzag between the cars and ride dangerously. But it was really cool!
We had dinner together with another 2 EPs like me – Kimberley (from Mauricius but living in Canada) and Jing (who is Korean but lives in Canada too). Then we went to night market in Taoyuan to eat something more. Later also Alex, another EP from Canada, joined us, because he just arrived to Taiwan. The night was long and I arrived home around 11pm.
